What does Honor Do?
So what, exactly, does HONOR do? Here is a list of our activities; keep in mind that all of our actions are accomplished with our five principles in mind.
- Speaks out on issues affecting American Indians and Indigenous People
- Equips and trains others for advocacy and action
- Monitors and reports on the anti-Indian movement
- Facilitates return of reservation homelands to tribes
- Publishes the HONOR Digest for members 6 times a year
- Produces resources including several books
- Conducts Workshops
- Disseminates background papers on critical issues
- Sends timely "Action Alerts" to network members
- Coordinates Conferences
- Prompts investigation of racial incidents
- Issues "Calls to Action" to institutions for policy changes
- Follows legislation impacting Indian Country
- Operates the LEAD (Leadership Empowerment, Activist Development Project)
